AWP PAW Patterns: Golden Cat, Stoner Cat and Prices

Which AWP PAW seeds give the Golden Cat, the Stoner Cat and the CT Cat, what each has sold for on CSFloat, and why seed 420 sells for over ten times a normal PAW.

The AWP PAW is a cheap, silly skin with a cartoon cat on it, and most copies sell for three or four dollars. Which cat you get depends on the paint seed. Two of those cats, the Golden Cat and the Stoner Cat, trade at a clear premium, and seed 420 has sold for $155.

Everything below comes from completed CSFloat sales recorded between 11 April and 19 September 2026. The full per-group history lives on the AWP PAW skin page.

How the pattern picks the cat

The PAW texture is bigger than the gun, and the paint seed decides which part of it gets printed on the rifle (the same mechanic behind every pattern-based skin, covered in what a CS2 pattern index is). Different slices show different cat artwork. This site sorts the seeds into four cats, most of them split into tiers by how cleanly the cat shows:

  • Stoner Cat, three tiers. Tier 1 is only seeds 420 and 788.
  • Golden Cat, one tracked tier of ten seeds.
  • Golden Cat with Knife, two tiers.
  • CT Cat, three tiers.

Nobody official decides these. The names and tier lines come from players comparing inspect screenshots, and this site's lists are its own call. You'll also notice eight seeds (19, 35, 177, 531, 581, 624, 644 and 744) sit on both the Golden Cat Tier 1 list and the Stoner Cat Tier 2 list. Check a specific seed's pattern page before assuming which cat it shows best.

Only two groups carry a premium you'd notice: Stoner Cat Tier 1 and Golden Cat Tier 1. Every other group has a median under $5.50, which is about what an unremarkable PAW goes for. CT Cat and Golden Cat with Knife seeds have fans, but the sales don't show buyers paying much extra for them.

Stoner Cat: seed 420

Of course it's 420. The joke seed is also the most valuable PAW tracked here. It recorded 33 sales with a median of $48.26, and its three best sales were all Factory New with no stickers: $155, $116.53 and $102.23.

Seed 788 is the other Tier 1 Stoner Cat, and it trades like a different skin. Seventeen sales, a $8.53 median, a $23.50 top. If you're buying a Stoner Cat for the look, 788 is the cheap way in. If you want the one people recognize by number, it's 420.

Seed 420 held up across wears, too. Factory New copies had a median of $89.82, Minimal Wear $48.13 and Field-Tested $29. That's unusual for a skin this cheap. Most PAWs lose nearly all their value below Factory New.

Golden Cat

Two seeds carry this group. Seed 41 has 48 sales, a median of $16.81 and a top sale of $141.87 (Factory New, no stickers). Seed 350 has 50 sales, a $17.38 median and a $91.69 top. The other eight Golden Cat seeds barely trade here: 531 and 19 have two sales each.

Be careful with stickered Golden Cats. Fourteen of seed 41's sixteen Minimal Wear sales had stickers on them, and a $102.81 Factory New sale carried a Lucky Cat foil next to a syrsoN gold. Cat stickers on a cat AWP are a popular craft. How stickers affect skin prices explains how to tell when the stickers, not the seed, set the price.

CT Cat and Golden Cat with Knife

These five groups share one story. Medians between $3 and $4.41, a Factory New copy around $10, and a handful of odd high sales. The $32.75 CT Cat Tier 3 top came from seed 209, and the median across all seven of its sales is $3.31. Don't price your CT Cat off that one sale.

Float matters more than you'd expect

Golden Cat Tier 1, sales by wear:

WearSalesMedian sale
Factory New29$57.00
Minimal Wear38$17.40
Field-Tested42$9.05
Well-Worn3$8.00
Battle-Scarred2$5.31

A Factory New Golden Cat sells for about six times a Field-Tested one. The cheap groups show the same shape at a smaller scale: CT Cat Tier 3 went from $9.50 in Factory New to $1.90 in Field-Tested. If you want a PAW that holds value, Factory New plus a Golden or Stoner seed is the combination buyers pay for. Float values explained has more on why.

Is a special PAW worth it?

For most people the answer is: buy the look you like, in the wear you can afford, and don't pay a pattern premium on a CT Cat. The only seeds with a clear, repeatable premium are 420, 41 and 350. And Steam Market won't show you that premium, since it blends every PAW seed into one price line (why that's a problem). Price a Golden Cat or Stoner Cat off its group page.
